Historic Riverside Accommodation

Guest House Douro sits directly on the banks of the Douro River in Porto's Ribeira district, a UNESCO-listed waterfront area lined with cafes, restaurants, and street performers. The guesthouse occupies a restored 19th-century building designated as a National Monument, featuring eight rooms spread across four floors. Each room includes wooden floors, individually controlled air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, and soundproof windows.

Comfortable Rooms with Views

Rooms range from doubles with King or Queen beds to twins, all featuring private bathrooms with bathtubs or showers, hairdryers, and bathrobes. Some rooms open onto balconies overlooking the Douro River or historic Fonte Taurina Street. Top-floor rooms provide sweeping river views, while others face the lively promenade.

Breakfast with Local Flavors

Guests start the day with a continental breakfast featuring freshly squeezed Algarve orange juice, local bread, cured meats, cheeses, homemade jam, and tropical fruits. A complimentary glass of port wine is offered upon arrival.

Explore Porto's Landmarks

The guesthouse is a 1-minute walk from Ribeira Square and less than 1 km from Bolsa Palace, Episcopal Palace of Oporto, and Monument Church of St. Francis. São Bento train station is a 10-minute uphill walk. Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport connects via Metro Line E (30-minute ride from Trindade Station).

Personalized Guest Services

Owners Carmen and João provide insider tips on Porto's hidden gems. Room service delivers tea, coffee, and port wine. The guesthouse assists with tour bookings and restaurant reservations.

“This guesthouse struck me as a particularly charming option, especially for couples. Its location is a genuine highlight, steps from the Douro River and within easy reach of Porto's attractions. What stands out most, however, is the attentiveness of the staff, clearly dedicated to creating a personalized experience.”

i found a couple of things disappointing. our room faced a neighboring restaurant (it seemed like a safety issue). this led to noise and smoke drifting in when we opened the windows. the bed was also too firm for my liking (i tossed and turned).
